Restoring the engine bay of an automobile is time consuming and the oil and grease removal is challenging to say the least. But Bill did a great job preparing the engine bay's surfaces for paint.
The entire compartment was pressure washed with detergent, sanded and chemically cleaned. Any areas showing the slightest signs of rust, were cleaned and treated.
Next the engine compartment was primed. Since the process took more than one day, primer was applied only to the areas that required no further prep work.
After the problem areas were properly prepared, and the brake lines masked, the final coat of primer was applied.
Next the engine compartment will be scuffed and the finish coats of single stage urethane paint applied.
